Jefferson Island

Jefferson Island has a history of oil rig operations and extensive work in the salt mines that rest below the earth. When the oil rig operations pierced the salt mine there was much devastation to the landscape and lake that resulted in a sizable whirlpool which flooded the mines.

This studio project focused on establishing a museum dedicated towards educating those on the history of Jefferson Island. For my design concept I focused on a structure that would carve into the landscape to resemble the since healed scars from the tragic incident and convey a sort of unity with Jefferson Island.
